What Mrs. Russell's students said about the Video Conference with Cranbrook:
· “It was really cool because we got to talk with someone from down state over the computer and they could see us”,
· “She was very interesting and smart- it was fun”,
· “I learned some new Native American words like Baama Pii– see you later- not really saying goodbye which was very final”,
· “I thought it was cool the way she taught us about the spear and then showed us an artifact of the spear”,
· “I learned that Paleo means ancient
· “It was cool to hear about the size of their longhouses and how their villages were arranged in palisides”
· “I didn’t realize that the “three sisters”, beans, corn, and squash, were a staple in the tribes of Michigan because I thought the three sisters was only connected to the Southwest tribes like the Pueblo Indians”
· “Did drinking the water out of the rivers and lakes have parasites that caused sickness in the Native People?”
It is a consensus of my class that this was a very worthwhile learning experience and we would enjoy a similar video conference.
